Many designs start from a simple pattern. If you want to create one yourself, you don't need to use an advanced image processor. It can be too complicated and it may not include the necessary features to draw precise shapes. A more suitable application for this task is Pattern Wizard. Instead of overwhelming you with countless options, which you may never use, it offers strictly what you need to create, customize and print a pattern.

To install Pattern Wizard on your computer, you just need to agree to the terms and conditions, click a check box if you want to create a desktop shortcut, and the software's components will be installed immediately.

Pattern Wizard gives you multiple possibilities to create a shape. You can draw one from scratch, import a sample pattern and modify it or, the most interesting method, import a picture from your hard drive and draw over it, on a separate layer. The possibility of importing pictures is particularly useful, especially if you want to replicate the pattern on a stained glass or something similar.

The tools that Pattern Wizard places at your disposal are very familiar. You can draw shapes by using line, rectangle, circle, arc or curve tools. If you want to draw a real-world object, you can load its picture and use these tools to trace its edges. Even if you don't use a picture or a sample pattern, Pattern Wizard can still help you in other ways. When you draw a shape, the software will place anchor points, at key locations, so you can modify the shape later.

Additionally, you may enable a grid, over the drawing area and click an option to snap the points to the grid. The grid's size, as well as the number of vertical and horizontal elements, can be modified at any time, on a separate window. You can also switch from the classical rectangular grid to a diamond-shaped grid. When you are finished drawing, you can fill your shapes with solid colors or various glass textures. It is also possible to add notes, on any shape, if you want to color by numbers, for example.

Pros

The software is simple and easy to use. The features it provides are very useful for creating and coloring patterns. The interface's design makes Pattern Wizard a very comfortable application.

Cons

Besides JPEG, there are no other output formats available. Pattern Wizard enables you to create high quality patterns like a professional, while using simple and easy to understand tools.
